UPC/cUPC CERTIFICATION

The UPC letters are an acronym for the "Uniform Plumbing Code." This code is a listing of particular specifications and guidelines set forth by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) which is designed to assure that products are safe for the consumer and the environment by meeting all established national and international criteria. The "c" in cUPC means that the product meets the Canadian, as well as the American, plumbing standards.

ADA APPROVED

In order to comply with the American Disabilities Act (ADA), faucets must meet certain criteria in their design and installation, while sinks are wholly evaluated by their installation. The standards for faucet design require the faucets to be operable with one hand without needing tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist. These requirements are designed to provide ease of operation and access, and only apply to use in public restrooms and lavatories. All René faucets are ADA approved.

NSF CERTIFIED

Referred to as NSF, this organization changed their name to NSF International (from National Sanitation Foundation) in the 1990’s. It is an independent public health and safety organization whose purpose is to develop public health standards and certifications which protect food, water, consumer products and the environment. As an independent, accredited organization, they test, audit and certify products and systems, as well as provide education and risk management.

LEAD FREE

The Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), enforced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has established standards to protect the U.S. public drinking water. Guidelines pertaining to plumbing fixtures require materials and fittings on such devices to be free of lead.

WATER SENSE

WaterSense is a partnership program of the EPA which seeks to protect the future of our nation’s water supply by offering people a simple way to use less water with water-efficient products. WaterSense labeled products are backed by independent, third-party testing and certifications, and meet the EPA’s specifications for water efficiency and performance. These products are certified to perform as well, or better than their less efficient counterparts, and to be 20 percent more water efficient than average products in their category. All René Sinks products are WaterSense certified.
